Auditions for the 10th generation of Morning Musume have been announced, coming just five months after the 9th generation were revealed.

The application process will run from now until the 13th of June, and is open to any girls aged between 10 and 17.

Kamei, Junjun and Linlin to Graduate; 9th gen auditions It was announced today that Morning Musume members Kamei Eri, Junjun and Linlin will all graduate at the end of the groups Autumn concert tour.

As the group will be down to just 5 members for the first time since it formed, new auditions will be held to find a 9th generation. These will be the first public auditions since 2006.

Kamei is leaving the Hello! Project to take the time to treat her atopic dermatitis, a chronic form of eczema that causes her irritation and slight skin colour changes.

Junjun and Linlin are graduating from the group, and will pursue music/entertainment careers in China. It is possible that they will remain a part of the Hello! Project, under the Taiwan arm of the company.

New Shugo Chara Egg!

Shugo Chara Egg! are to return, and will host segments in a new TV show built around the Shugo Chara!!! Dokki Doki anime, as well as singing its theme song.

With the other three members having left to form S_mileage, Saho Akari is the only remaining original member. She will be joined by Maeda Irori and Fukumura Mizuki.

A fourth member will be chosen from an audition open to any unsigned school girl.

The Taiwan audition winners were announced on the 20th of September. The six chosen girls are Zhao Guo Rong (趙國蓉), Zeng De Ping (曾德萍), Wu Si Xuan (吳思璇), Gu Jun (古筠), Qiu Cui Ling (邱翠玲), and Zhong An Qi (鍾安琪). They will travel to Japan in November to start training, and will make their debut as Hello! Project members at a concert in January, releasing a mini album in Taiwan and Japan.

The members of the new unit tied to the "Shugo Chara!" anime were announced at an event on the 20th of September. The group will be called "Shugo Chara Egg!", and consists of Wada Ayaka, Maeda Yuuka, Fukuda Kanon, and Saho Akari. Their debut single "Minna no Tamago" will be released on December 10th, and will be the opening theme for the newly retitled "Shugo Chara!! Doki". Ayaka's husband Tanihara Hideto, 29, has just won the 2008 Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open with a 16-under-par. This is his second title of the year, and the eighth win of his career. He takes home the 40,000,000 yen first prize, which makes him the current highest earner in the Japan Golf Tour for this year.

Today saw the final episode of "Haromoni@". The show, which was a low budget and shorter replacement for "Hello! Morning", started on April 8th 2007 and ran for 77 episodes.

Goto Yuuki, brother of Goto Maki and former EE Jump singer was found guilty on May 21st of robbery and assault and was sentenced to 5 and a half years in prison. He was the ringleader in the crime which saw 48 reels of copper cable (worth around ¥470,000/US$4500/£2300/€2900) taken from a construction site in July 2007, and left a security guard with a broken nose. Maki was in court for the sentencing, and afterwards apologized to reporters for her brothers actions.

Morning Musume began their asian tour last night with a concert in the Taipei Nankang Exhibition Hall. They also recorded an appearance for the Taiwanese "Hello Project New Star" TV show, the auditions having started earlier that day with around 1000 girls taking part.

Hello! Project Taiwanese Audition

Hello! Project Taiwanese Audition For the first time, the Hello! Project will be holding auditions for new members outside of Japan.

The first round of "Hello! Project New Star" (早安家族New Star) auditions will take place on the 24th of May in Taipei, May 25th in Taichung, and June 1st in Kaohsiung. They will be broadcast on TTV from the following weekend in a show hosted by Taiwanese actor Blackie.

The requirements for applicants is to be a cute, lively and outgoing female between 6 and 24 years old.

Morning Musume 8th Generation Announced Today saw the results of the Morning Musume Happy 8 auditions to find new members for the group.

In a surprise move, Tsunku once again chose only one girl: Mitsui Aika, 13, from Shiga prefecture. Aika becomes the 9th and youngest member of the current group, and the 23rd member in the groups history.

Kansai audition winners debut

Kansai audition winners debut The five winners from last years Kansai auditions have today (25th) made their first public appearance, opening a C-ute event by performing three Hello! Project songs. They were first announced on Hello! Pro Yanen on the 11th of August.

They are:
Iwashima Manami (岩嶋雅奈未), 16.
Abe Asami (阿部麻美), 15.
Nakayama Nana (中山菜々), 14.
Suma Ai (須磨愛), 14.
Maeda Irori (前田彩里), 9.

Iwashima made the last 32 in Morning Musume Audition 2005, and Suma was in the final five with eventual winner Kusumi Koharu.

Morning Musume 8th Generation Auditions Announced

Morning Musume 8th Generation Auditions Announced After weeks of speculation, the inevitable 8th generation Morning Musume auditions were officially announced by Hello! Project producer Tsunku on Hello! Morning last Sunday, 30th July 2006.

With Konno Asami having graduated a week ago, and Ogawa Makoto graduating later this month, the group will soon be down to just 8 girls, the lowest number since Goto_Maki joined in 1999. The auditions, to be known as "Happy8期 (Happy Hachi ki)" start on the 27th of August, with the first round auditions taking place all over Japan until the 22nd of October.
