Morning Musume sold just over 48k copies of their single "Resonant Blue" in its first week, reaching number 3 in the weekly chart. That is the third highest sales figure of their last ten singles.
This week saw the release of three Hello! Project singles. On the first day, C-ute reached number 2 with "Namida no Iro" while v-u-den were number 8 with their final single "Nannimo Iwazu ni I LOVE YOU". Meanwhile, Fujimoto Miki's solo return "Okitegami" was number 14 for its first day.
Kago Ai has signed to a new agency called "Mainstream", and she mentioned on her blog that she has agreed to appear in a Hong Kong movie. No further details are available yet.

C-ute are the official 2008 Rakuten Eagles Supporters

C-ute will be this years official supporters of the Japanese Pacific League Baseball team Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, and will release a single "Koero! Rakuten Eagles" on March 20th through the teams website and the official Hello! Project shop. The song, written by Tsunku, is said to be dynamic with a bright melody to inspire the players.
In previous years this role has been filled by Hello! Project groups Morning Musume, DEF.DIVA, and GAM. C-ute will perform the song before the teams first home game of the season on March 29th against the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.

C-ute win Best New Artist at the 49th Japan Record Awards

C-ute have won the award for being the Best New Artist at the 49th Japan Record Awards (日本レコード大賞), beating out JYONGRI, Stephanie, and Takasugi Satomi.
The long running show, which is sponsored by the Japan Composer's Association, is one of the major events in the Japanese music calender. Morning Musume won the same award in 1998.

Morning Musume, Berryz Koubou and C-ute make the Kouhaku

Morning Musume will compete at the Kouhaku this year, which will be the tenth time for the group. They will be joined for the first time by both Berryz Koubou and C-ute.
This is the 58th New Years Eve show, where musical artists are split into two teams and compete in games. The Hello! Project groups will be part of the red team. Joining them will be artists including: BoA, Koda Kumi, Leah Dizon, Hamasaki Ayumi, Nakajima Mika, Angela Aki, Nakagawa Shouko and (interestingly) AKB48 who also make their first appearance.

C-ute's major debut single hits #5

Sakura Chirari, the major debut single from Hello! Project's youngest group C-ute, has reached number 5 in its first week of release with 23,827 singles sold. The single sales were boosted by coming with the chance to win tickets for an upcoming C-ute event tour.
To compare: their sister group Berryz Koubou have never broken 20k in a first week, and C-ute look certain to beat their highest figure of 24,449 for Special Generation.
C-ute have slowly built up their fan base over the last two years, releasing four indie-singles last summer, and they performed their first proper solo concert this past weekend at the Nippon Seinenkan.
Murakami Megumi quits the Hello! Project

It was announced today that 14 year old C-ute member Murakami Megumi has left the Hello! Project, effective immediately.
The official explanation is that she has decided to return to normal school life. However, this comes just days after pictures were released on the internet showing her arm in arm with a boy.
