Biography

Konno Asami joined Morning Musume in 2001 as part of its fifth generation. Despite performing poorly at the final training camp audition at both vocals and dance, Konkon was chosen for the hard work and determination she had shown.

Konno became regarded as the most intelligent member after coming first in the Mechaike Bakajo test by some distance. She went on to become one of the most popular people in the Hello! Project, with photobook and dvd sales rivalling any of the top stars.

However, in July 2006 Konno graduated from Morning Musume and the Hello! Project to finish her education, and went on to win a place to study at the prestigious Keio University.

She stayed on good terms with the company, making a surprise appearance on stage at the final concert in the Hello! Project Winter 2007 tour to support the graduating members.

In June 2007 it was announced that Konno would be returning to play for the Hello! Project futsal team Gatas Brilhantes, working it around her studies.

The team released a single as Ongaku Gatas, with Konno joining them to promote it on television, and perform it in concerts. On its release, she was re-added to the official site as part of the Elder Club. She continues to be part of the group after the Elder Club graduation.
