Biography

Megumi was the oldest member and original leader of Hello! Project group Melon Kinenbi, but passed on the leadership to Saitou Hitomi in 2002.

Originally known for her glasses - actually rarely worn publicly from 2006 when she started using contact lenses - Megumi was one of the more active members of the group, appearing regularly on Hello! Morning, and hosting concerts.

Megumi graduated from the Hello! Project with the Elder Club in March 2009, but continued with Melon Kinenbi until the group separated in May 2010.

On June 26th 2010 it was announced that Megumi had re-signed with Up Front, and would resume activities and open a blog in July 2010. On her return she is now spelling her name using katakana characters.
